Led by Tihany and Managing Partner Alessia Genova, Tihany Design is fueled by an international quest for discovery and a dynamic team of talented designers. Characterized by personal identity, timeless elegance and strong sense of place, the firm’s body of work showcases a fluid, yet profoundly diverse design vocabulary, illustrating Tihany’s philosophy of custom-tailoring each project to fit to the unique vision of the client. The firm’s bespoke designs often incorporate custom products and furniture, which has resulted in collaborations with notable companies such as Christofle, Bernardaud, Kartell, Roda, FLOS and Poltrona Frau. With the recent launch of Tihany Product Design, Tihany continues to forge meaningful, innovative partnerships with renowned manufacturers around the world.

Recognized as one of the first designers to collaborate with internationally acclaimed chefs, Tihany has created signature restaurants for culinary stars such as Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Charlie Palmer, Heston Blumenthal and Pierre Gagnaire. Now setting his sights on the seas, Tihany’s work with Carnival brands has propelled the firm to the forefront of the cruise industry, leading with innovative design concepts for Holland America Line and ultra-luxury Seabourn vessels. As Creative Director for the Italian Costa Cruises and the time-honored British line Cunard, Tihany is overseeing the design vision for the next class of ships for these iconic European travel brands.

As a leading expert, Tihany frequently lectures at universities and conferences around the world. He served as Art Director of the Culinary Institute of America and is a former member of Pratt Institute’s Board of Trustees. His contribution to design has been recognized with numerous honors and awards, including the Lawrence Israel Prize from the Fashion Institute of Technology, induction into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and an Honorary Doctorate from the New York School of Interior Design. He has published several books on his work and his latest, Tihany: Iconic Hotel and Restaurant Interiors, was published by Rizzoli. With equal parts spontaneity and careful attention to detail, Tihany’s sophisticated, often groundbreaking designs continue to provide inspiration to the next generation of hospitality designers.
