GrandHotelSalone Milan, April 10–15, 2002. For 40 years, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair), has distinguished itself as the preeminent global design exhibition. Each year, Cosmit sponsors a major non-commercial exhibit to explore contemporary design and cultural issues. The 2002 exhibit, called GrandHotelSalone, created by Tihany Design, was the first of its kind to celebrate the global cultural phenomenon of hospitality design.

Conceived as a fully functional replica of a boutique hotel, the 4,000-square-meter GrandHotelSalone challenged ten noted architects and designers — each collaborating with an Italian manufacturer — to create a ěHotel Room of the Futureî in a foreign world capital. The objective was to capture the contemporary spirit of modern global travel through a range of eclectic interpretations.
