MO Lobby/Lounge Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Located in the heart of Central Hong Kong, Tihany Design conceived the public spaces, bar and 7th floor restaurant at this uber-fashionable, 113-room boutique hotel.
The design draws its inspiration from Hong Kong’s demographics and its international sense of mobility and extends to every detail. A modern interpretation of a classic luxe-deco stone and mosaic tiled floored lobby welcomes guests to the hotel. An impressive mahogany stairway enclosure leads to the reception area featuring a library with the latest books in architecture, design and fashion.
Three imposing 4 meter-high camel color upholstered leather panels are the gateway to a powerful and stylish Bar and Lounge. Chameleon-like design features--that transform the bar from day to night--adapt the space to the time of day and create an entirely different setting and feeling.
Amber, a plush 72-seat restaurant on the 7th floor, is sophisticated and serene. The soothing muted color tones impart a tangible sense of tranquility amidst the hubbub of the city. A wave of golden bronze rods hangs from the ceiling—each rod ranging from 1–2 meters in length—water ripples gently over glass panels that demark passageways, and operable walnut shades at each window enhance the upscale Australian walnut walled dining area.
The exclusive enclave boasts gold shimmery window shades and sheered velvet upholstery in beige, gold and ivory tones that bespeak elegance, subtlety and intimacy.
