Hangar One Scottsdale, Arizona. Hangar One, a private aviation club at the Scottsdale, Arizona airport, is a cutting-edge facility and an unprecedented design project. Tihany Design’s first major architectural commission, in collaboration with Swaback Partners of Scottsdale, was custom-built for a local businessman who’s also a pilot and a flight enthusiast. Hangar One is a whimsical array of structures, shapes, and forms that combine to create a striking visual and sensorial architectural complex. The sophisticated private club facilities were designed for use before and after members’ flights and include two hangars, four lounges, entrance lobby, vintage car gallery, entertainment annex, aviation shop, catering facilities, offices, and restrooms.
