Dining Design Milan, April 14–19, 2004. Held in conjunction with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair) from April 14–19, 2004, Dining Design was a dynamic, interactive exhibit offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the past, present and future of restaurant design.

The 50,000-square-foot exhibit opened with an unusual retrospective of iconic 19th and 20th century restaurant chairs. Underscoring the growing interdependence between fashion and design, fashion luminaries Rosita Missoni and Paul Smith each conceived their own version of a fully functioning restaurant.

Highlighting the future of restaurant design was the "Street of Restaurants," an imaginative series of 12 restaurant vignettes, created by students from leading international design schools.
