Apsleys London. The Italian Restaurant Apsleys occupies the former Conservatory space at The Lanesborough Hotel, and was conceived and designed entirely by Tihany Design. The original “Conservatory” was inspired by the Brighton Pavilion. Taking full advantage of the expansive glass ceiling and the elevated platform surrounding the center court, Tihany Design transformed the character of the space into a more contemporary and unique restaurant. Three new large custom modern chandeliers are situated in the center of the atrium space changing the mood of the room from a light and airy daytime setting to dramatic and sexy at night. Two new glass enclosed wine cellar/tasting rooms flank the entrance contributing to the restaurant’s new character and vibrancy. A centerpiece of the restaurant is a custom commissioned mural by Simon Casson depicting mythological characters – from classical paintings –reinterpreted in a contemporary context.
